Toronto Azzurri 2017 Year in Review

As another year comes to an end and as we look forward to our 20th year as the NEW Toronto Azzurri Soccer Club.  I felt it appropriate to update our members on the programming currently being created and sustained.  I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your unconditional support through the twenty years. We’ve accomplished so much and with so much more to do.

When we opened the Azzurri LIUNA Clubhouse on April 29, 2014, we declared our Mission and declared our long-term commitment.

“to create and sustain sport, education and Arts programming for our community youth with a specific focus on our “At Risk” kids.  Over the past three years, we have hosted and/or executed the following programs and initiatives

  • Annual Outdoor Summer Recreational Soccer League
  • Annual Indoor Fall/Winter Development Soccer Program
  • Asante Elite” High Development “ Rep Program
  • International Football Academy
  • Blizzard Azzurri Women’s Soccer Programming – featuring League One Open Women’s Team
  • Toronto Jets Community Football Youth Program

The above programs involve over 1300 Community Youth children with over 200 subsidized, sponsored or underwritten by private and corporate donations.

The Toronto Azzurri LIUNA clubhouse is/has also hosted

  • Private Day School ( children ages 8-14)
  • Theatre Arts Group
  • Community Choir (children ages (11-13)

2017 was an exciting year for the Toronto Azzurri Soccer Club.  We launched “The Toronto Azzurri Soccer Wall of Fame”, on April 1, 2017.  Over 350 people attended the induction Gala where the first 12 individuals were honored and inducted.  In August The Toronto Azzurri Soccer Club proudly hosted the inaugural “ International Youth Soccer U17 Tournament”  It was stated at the OSA Showcase Field with over 3000 people attending the two doubleheaders.
